Dvide BMX Race Report – Gold Cup & State Championship Qualifiers at San Diego BMX

This past weekend, the Dvide BMX race team took on the Gold Cup Qualifier and State Championship Qualifier at San Diego BMX, delivering strong performances across multiple classes. With podium finishes, comeback stories, and gritty rides, the team showcased their speed, skill, and determination.

SATURDAY – Gold Cup Qualifier Highlights:

Dale Holmes (51-55 Expert) dominated his class with a 1st place finish in both class and cruiser, setting the tone for a strong weekend.

Jon Callicott (51-55 Expert) put in a solid effort, securing 2nd place in both class and cruiser, proving his consistency against tough competition.

Justus Standley (46-50 Expert) made a surprise return from injury, racing for the first time this year and securing a 5th-place finish in a tough class.

Kyle Kellner (26-35 Expert) showed incredible grit, recovering from a crash in Turn 2 to finish 3rd place, demonstrating his toughness and determination.

SUNDAY – State Championship Qualifier Results:

Dale Holmes followed up his Saturday sweep with a strong 2nd place finish, continuing his podium streak.

Ricardo Trujillo (51-55 Expert) made an impressive return to racing after a two-year hiatus, proving he’s still got the speed by securing a 3rd place finish in the highly competitive 51-55 Expert class.

Jon Callicott faced stiff competition, landing 4th place in both class and cruiser, but still making his presence known on the track.

Maddie Desantis (21-30 Expert Woman) delivered an outstanding performance, securing 1st place in both class and cruiser, proving she’s a force to be reckoned with.

Gus Cruz (12 Expert) was on fire, taking 1st place in both class and cruiser, showcasing incredible talent and determination.

Final Thoughts:

The Dvide BMX race team put on an incredible performance throughout the weekend, securing multiple podium finishes and valuable championship points at San Diego BMX. Special recognition goes to Ricardo Trujillo, who made a strong return after a two-year break, and Justus Standley, who raced for the first time this year after recovering from injury. A big shoutout also goes to Kyle Kellner, who showed pure heart by finishing strong after a crash in Turn 2.

With standout performances from Maddie Desantis and Gus Cruz taking double wins, and Dale Holmes and Jon Callicott consistently battling at the front, the team is looking stronger than ever.
